Mecca Bingo Visited by YouTube Rappers
Rappers Barney Artist and Guvna B have a YouTube series, ‘Rappers Try Things’, in which they do things not usually associated with rap. This is to change perceptions of rappers and break down stereotypes. As part of this series, they stopped by Mecca Bingo in Dagenham.

Rappers Barney Artist and Gunva B Visit Mecca Bingo for Their YouTube Series
Rappers and YouTube personalities Barney Artist and Gunva B have a vlog series called “Rappers Try Things”. It features videos of the duo doing things that you wouldn’t typically expect rappers to do.
Since launching the series, the rappers have added a new video every Wednesday. So far, they’ve done a wide range of activities, from ballet and chess to fishing and even butchery. They’ve also played bingo at Mecca Bingo.
An episode filmed in January 2024 shows the two rappers visiting Dagenham’s Mecca Bingo club. Peter Houston and Charlotte Craythorne Allan greet them, and then they take part in some of the club’s activities including, of course, bingo.
In fact, it was the first time the rappers had ever played bingo. Barney Artist had this to say about his experience at Mecca Bingo:
As soon we arrived, we knew we were in for a great night. It was such a fun environment and there was a strong sense of community. The bingo itself was a lot more of an adrenaline rush than we anticipated but thoroughly enjoyable! Peter Houston, one of the team members who welcomed the rappers to the venue, said this about the experience:
It was great to welcome Barney and Guvna into our club and show them what a great value, fun night out bingo can be. They joined us for a traditional bingo session and immediately made friends with some of our regulars. Mecca Bingo has been working with influencers and internet personalities for two reasons: to change the British public’s perception of bingo and to make the Mecca Bingo brand more appealing.
By working with a diverse range of content creators, Mecca Bingo hopes to attract a broader range of people to its bingo clubs. Its aim is for more people to discover the joy of bingo.
