The first operator to secure its coveted online gaming license from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) was Ligtip Limited, now being able to roll out its Tonybet brand in Ontario through its additional Tonybet.ca website. The approval arrived after Tonybet was also granted a license in the Netherlands in November 2022.

Second up is Delta iGaming INC, which this week was awarded with a new license for Delta Bingo and Gaming in the province of Ontario, while Eclipse Entertainment Limited was the third operator which won approval for its popular High Flyer Casino brand.

These three new licenses given out by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) arrived shortly after the very same AGCO also doled out approval to NetBet Enterprises for the NetBet brand, as well as Ngame’s SpinAway and Rootz for its own Wildz brand.

Ever since the highly anticipated gaming market in Ontario finally launched in Paril 2022, the AGCO has awarded more than 60 licenses to operators for Ontario’s regulated betting and igaming market, which opened specifically on April 4th of this year.

Just last week, during the beginning of December 2022, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) sent out an order to all operators currently active in the province to immediately stop accepting bets on the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) due to legitimate worries concerning the integrity of the highly popular fighting league. The regulator specified that operators should cease offering any UFC betting with immediate effect.

In other recent Ontario betting news, NorthStar Gaming, which runs the Canada-facing NorthStar Bets brands, announced in November 2022 that it was entering into a regional partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the province.

NorthStar Bets has now assumed the role of official authorized gaming operator of the NBA in the Canadian province, gaining in return the privilege of using official NBA marks and logos in its branding efforts. Furthermore, its users will also be able to take advantage of real-time NBA data when placing bets.

NorthStar and the NBA in fact already had an existing agreement in place at the time of this announcement, meant to furnish players with greater access to pre-game and live in-game betting opportunities for a number of premium sporting leagues, including the always popular in Canada National Hockey League (NHL).

NorthStar Gaming founding partner and chief executive Michael Moskowitz briefly summarized the company’s deal with the NBA while guaranteeing fans an authentic betting experience:
