The vast majority of fine wines produced in America come
from California. The various wine regions of California ideal for growing
an array of grapes, as local conditions can resemble those found in
France's Bordeaux, Burgundy and Rhone regions, various parts of Italy. In 1965, Napa Valley icon Robert Mondavi broke away from his family's Charles Krug estate to found his own in Oakville California. It was the first new large-scale winery to be established in the valley since before prohibition. |

Big House 2004 Red Central Coast, California
Big House Red is all about fragrance, spice and soft tannins. It has a fragrance of mint and garrigue, with insinuations of blackberry and the ubiquitous framboise. Not a wine that you would want to serve to the Queen (in virtue of its unregenerate rusticity), it is nevertheless a wine that is the perfect complement to barbecue, pasta, pizza and all of the major non-vegan groups.
